Sweet Sleep Ministry

Sweet Sleep Ministry combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a handmade pillowcase. The pillowcases can be made for men, women, or children. The brightly patterned pillowcases are made by loving hands and signed on the solid border. As each person signs the pillowcase, they say a prayer for someone in special need who will receive the pillowcase. The signatures are permanent giving the ability to wash the pillowcase so it can give many years of “sweet sleep” to the individual. There is no charge for the pillowcase. Donations from supporters can be made to Women’s Discipleship Ministry at Clayton Baptist. The ministry will continue to cover the individual in prayer throughout their journey.

The Sweet Sleep Ministry began in Janaury, 2008 to honor John Purvis. John was diagnosed in December 2006 at the age of 23 with a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer. John was treated through clinical trials at Duke University. He passed away on March 29, 2012 after a 5 year fight against this cancer. Our purpose is to offer a special gift of love and prayers that may provide a feeling of “sweet sleep” as the individual places their head on the pillow to rest. Sweet Sleep continues in his memory, having given out more than 1,000 Sweet Sleep pillowcases.
